My Top Ten Neutral Eyeshadows and Swatches

Hey guys! Hope everyone is doing well. In the beauty world there a ton of different neutral eyeshadow palettes and neutral eyeshadow singles that seem to be a long lasting trend. With so many neutral  color options it can be overwhelming choosing which one you like. Today I want to share my top ten neutral eyeshadows that I often use not only for the color and pigmentation, but how well they blend and their staying power. I hope you enjoy some of my favorite neutral eyeshadows. It was hard to choose. ;) Let get started!

In no particular order we have...

Makeup Geek Cosmetics Vanilla Bean

You might be wondering it is a pretty sheer cream shade. At least that is what I thought when I first purchased and swatched it. When I used it as a highlight for my brow bone it added just enough highlight with out it being stark white. Sometimes a little goes a long way and as you can see this color is well loved.

Urban Decay Basic Eyeshadow Palette- Skimp

Here is another highlight shade great for the brow bone. Unlike the first highlight shade, this one is more opaque and has a bit of a sheen to it which catches and reflect light adding shimmer and a nice subtle glow to your brow bone.

Makeup Geek Cosmetics-Latte

This color is a light brown color perfect as a transition shade. I love this color because it is soft and really brings a neutral look together helping blending out harsh lines adding a soft look to your neutral makeup. This color is buttery and blend well.

Make Up For Ever Artist Shadow - #738
This is not really a shadow but a blush . Most people use it as a shadow and so do I. This color has excellent pigmentation and staying power. I love rusty colored browns to create a warm neutral look. Great color to create a sunset or rusty eye which is what I love and wear the most.

Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette-Milk Chocolate

Name of the color is accurate. This color reminds of a milk chocolate bar. Another wonderful transition shade to tie a neutral look together. The eyeshadow is buttery and has great pigmentation. It also smells like chocolate!

Kat Von D Shade and Light Eye Contour Palette-Succumbus

I love burnt brown colors and this one is a nice one to add to any neutral look with out creating an overly warm look. This color is gorgeous! The texture is so velvety and blends well.

Kat Von D Shade and Light Eye Contour Palette-Sytry

When It comes to a neutral look it is nice to have mid tone brown to darken things up a bit. You can add this on the outer v area of the eye to add depth to your look. Nice pigmentation and staying power.

Anastasia Beverly Hill Self Made Palette- Hot Chocolate

This color is a perfect chocolate color. I do not own a brown like this. Such a gorgeous color to own and I have been using this color often. Perfect mid tone brown color that has excellent pigmentation, smooth texture and lasts for most of the day.

Lorac Pro Eyeshadow Palette- Espresso

This color is perfect for smoking out a brown eye. A little goes a long way when using this eyeshadow. Very pigmented and blends well.

Make Up For Ever Artist Shadow- M600

Last and certainly not least is this Make Up For Ever Artist Eyeshadow #M600. It is a nice earthy brown great for the lid and crease. It has great pigmentation and blends well. At times I just apply this color to my lid and blend it up to the crease for a simple neutral look.

Here is what the swatches look like all together. You must of been thinking while scrolling through the swatches that a lot of the brown shades look the same. They are all very different from each other and are my favorite colors to use when doing a neutral makeup look. If I would have to choose one shade that is my absolute fav that would be  Succumbus from the Kat Von D Shade and Light Palette. It is not too orangey or burnt toned which is great to use to add subtle warmth to your neutral makeup.

Hope you enjoyed my top ten neutral eyeshadows. It was definitely hard to choose, but these are what I reach for the most and have awesome texture and blend well.

Kat Von D Shade And Light Eye Contour Palette- Review And Swatches

Kat Von D not only made a name for herself in her tattoo designs, but also in the beauty industry as well. The quality in her makeup has improved and she has one of the best formulas when it comes to her eyeshadows. The Kat Von D Shade And Light Eye Contour is no exception. It is the perfect neutral palette. If you love neutrals and are looking for an every day neutral palette as well as one that you can create night time looks then this lovely palette is the one to own. I also created a brown black smokey eye using this palette which you can checkout here.

The Kat Von D Shade And Light Eye Contour Palette retails at $ 46.00 and comes with 12 shades that are arranged in quads to help you create a look.

The names are printed in the back of the palette but to me this is confusing. It would have been nice to have the names printed underneath each color. The eyeshadow is sleek enough to take it with you when traveling.

With this palette you can create day and night time looks. This a neutral lovers dream eyeshadow palette. I love the burnt brown color. It is amazing and a little goes a long way.

Review

I do not know what formula Kat Von D uses in her eyeshadows palettes, but they are amazing! The Kat Von D Shade And Light Eye Contour Palette is fantastic. The pigmentation is wonderful and the colors are creamy and blend so well together. I wore these eyeshadows for 8 hours and they were still going strong with no signs of creasing. This is one my of favorite neutral palettes that I own and I am so happy I added this to my collection. If you love neutral colors you will not be disappointed with this gem. I highly recommend the Kat Von D Shade and Light Eye Contour Palette.

Brown and Black Smokey Eye Ft. Kat Von D Shade and Light Eye Contour Palette

Attempting to do a smokey eye can be a little intimidating. If you put too much black and bring it too high up and applying too much black eyeshadow below the lash line can make you look like a panda. One of the tricks to achieving a successful smokey eye is blending and gradually building up color instead of applying a heavy hand at the first try. I hardly ever do smokey eyes, but lately I have been practicing and loving how it looks. There are many variations of smokey eyes. You can do a heavy or a soft smokey eye and it is not limited in color either. Smokey eyes can range from black, purple, brown, bronze and so on. I hope you like how it came out and enjoy the pictorial. :)

*Pictorial*

1. For the first primer I used Urban Decay Primer potion for all over the eyes from lid to brow bone. When it was time to do my lid area I applied the nyx jumbo eye pencil in black and then applied the black eyeshadow for intensity of color so that it would not fade.

2. For the crease I used the red brown color and applied it in wind shield wiper motions. Blend.
3. I took the ivory color and applied it to my brow bone. Blend.
4. In the inner crease I used the mud brown color. Blend. If blending faded the color a bit add more until you get the intensity you want.
5. First, I applied nyx jumbo eye pencil in black on my lid and then took the black eyeshadow and patted it onto my lid. I applied about a layer or two of the eyeshadow. Once I did that I carefully blended the black upward toward the crease  making sure I didn't go too high up.
6. I took the same black eyeshadow and applied to my outer corner of my eye to increase the intensity of the look. Blend. I added some more of the black color and blended it again. It really is up to you how intense you want your smokey eye to be.
7. Add a matte liquid or gel liner to the lid. I know it won't show much on my black eyeshadow, but I still wanted to add a wing to my makeup look for that extra glam. :)
8. Curl lashes and add black mascara.
9. Add black eyeliner to your water line.
10. First I took the dirt brown color and applied it below the lash line . Then I took the black eyeshadow and only added to the outer corner below the lash line. Blend to diffuse the color.
11. I used the cream color eyeshadow and applied it to my inner tear duct.
12. Add mascara to your bottom lashes.

Look complete!

*Finished Look*

Using the brown instead of using the typical grey and black for a smokey eye was a nice contrast of colors. It also made my brown eyes pop. I really liked how it came out and I will be experimenting with more smokey looks ranging in different colors.

Hope you enjoyed this pictorial and see you guys in my next blog post.

Cinnamon Spice Fall Makeup Pictorial Ft. Kat Von D Mi Vida Loca Remix Eyeshadow Palette

Hey guys! Today I will be bringing you another fall makeup tutorial using Kat Von D Mi Vida Loca Remix Eyeshadow Palette. You can check out my review of it here.  Fall is about pumpkin and cinnamon apple flavors and colors. So I decided to create a look called cinnamon spice since cinnamon is my favorite flavor during the fall. I wanted to incorporate cinnamon colors with a hint of orange to showcase some fall colors. This has been my go to Fall makeup. Hope you enjoy and like my pictorial. :)

Detailed step by step instruction on how I achieved this look.

1. My new technique has been applying eyeshadow on the crease first and apply eyeshadow on the lid last so the lid color will not get washed out during the makeup process.  Apply the bright orange color to your crease and blend.
2. On the brow bone apply the cream colored eyeshadow and blend.
3. Apply the burgundy color to your outer corner up to your inner crease and blend.
4. Next, take the same bright orange eyeshadow and pat that all over the lid. For this color before applying I applied a white base to make the color more vibrant.
5. Take your favorite black eyeliner or a glitter gold eyeliner and apply it on your lid.
7. Use a black mascara for your eyelashes.
8. For your lower lash line apply the burgundy red color up to the middle of your lower lash line.
9. Take the bright orange and apply to the middle lower lash line and stop before the tear duct.
10. I used the light gold eyeshadow and applied it to my tear duct.
11. Use a black eyeliner for your waterline.

All done!

Finished Look

These are my favorite colors to wear during the fall months. Hope you enjoyed this pictorial and hope you give this look a try.

Stay safe and warm everyone! See you in my next blog post.

Kat Von D Mi Vida Loca Remix Eyeshadow Palette Review

Hello Guys!  I am really excited about this review. Lately, Kat Von D has been creating some wonderful palettes and the quality of her eyeshadows just get better and better. When I heard she was coming with a colorful palette this year I knew this was a must have without a doubt. When it comes to colorful eyeshadows this is one of the few eyeshadows palettes that is out in the beauty world that showcases such vibrant eyeshadows whereas other brands are still stuck on the neutral colored eyeshadows. Do not get me wrong I love neutral eyeshadows too, but it is always exciting to venture out into colorful eyeshadows to brighten things up. So without further a due here is the review for the Kat Von D Mi Vida Loca Remix Eyeshadow Palette.

Kat Von D Mi Vida Loca Remix Palette retails for $59.00 and contains colorful as well as natural eyeshadows ranging from shimmer to matte finishes.

The outside illustration was drawn by Kat Von D herself.

All the colors of the rainbow! Simply beautiful and what is cool about this palette  just like a color wheel you can customize your own shades to create new ones. You can create endless makeup looks.

The Kat Von D Mi Vida Loca Remix Palette slides out of the packaging like a record. Not the most practical way in storing an eyeshadow palette because if you are not careful it could fall out. Kat Von D created the packaging in a artistic way. I dig it.

The packaging included this makeup look sheet to help you get started.

Swatches

I swatched the colors clockwise and they were swatched over a regular base. If you swatched it over a white base the colors will be more vibrant. Such gorgeous colors and excellent pigmentation. I do not know how Kat Von D creates smooth and buttery matte eyeshadows without them being powdery  The only color that I did have to pack on was the yellow eyeshadow and I had to apply the color over a white base. However, it was not powdery which yellow eyeshadows are known for.

Review/Thoughts

If you are a makeup junkie and one who loves colorful eyeshadows this is the one to grab fast before it sells out. This is a limited edition eyeshadow palette. Once it sells out it is gone for good. If you do not own many eyeshadows or do not own many palettes with colorful eyeshadows, this is the one to get. Kat Von D has done it again with the quality of the eyeshadows. They are super pigmented and velvety soft. The matte eyeshadows have excellent pigmentation as well and are not powdery. The eyeshadows blend like a dream and last all day still maintaining its vibrancy and pigmentation. I wore the eyeshadows for about 7 hours and it was still vibrant and did not crease at all. If you really want the colors to pop apply a white base first.

Some say the palette is pricey. I have to disagree. You have 24  super pigmented shades to work with. This is a color wheel which means you can create colors by mixing them together. So if you think about it you are getting more than 24 shadows plus more with customizable shades. I think $59 dollars is a reasonable price and this palette is versatile.  There are some eyeshadow palettes that cost an arm and a leg and the quality is poor because often times you are paying for the brand  name instead of the quality which isn't the case with the Kat Von D Livin Mi Vida Loca  Remix Palette. In this palette you have your colorful and neutral shadows, so if you want to create a neutral look you have the middle wheel to create an every day or smokey look for night time. Also if u want a neutral look with a pop of color that can be done too. The possibilities of makeup looks are endless with this palette.

My only complaint is the packaging. I love the art that she created herself for the cover. However, the storage of the palette is not practical because there is no closure on the side and can fall right out. It is also very big so this wouldn't be travel friendly. I do get her artistic point of view.

So did I love the Kat Von D Living Mi Vida Loca Remix Palette? Yes! I am over the moon with this palette and happy I grabbed it. I highly highly recommend this if you are looking for a colorful palette with high quality pigmentation. I urge you to get it before it is gone. This is one of my top palettes for 2015.

Hope you enjoyed this review and found it helpful.

You can purchase this palette only at Sephora. Grab it before it sells out. This is limited edition.

Kat Von D Ever Lasting Liquid Lipstick In Lolita Review

Hey Everyone! Today I will be reviewing the Kat Von D Ever Lasting Liquid Lipstick in Lolita. This lip color is all the rave these days. It certainly is pretty and compliments all skin tones. This is my first high end liquid lipstick so when I heard all the good reviews and how wonderful the color was I caved in to see what all the hype was about. Was it worth all the buzz? Scroll down to find out my thoughts. :)

The Kat Von D Ever Lasting Liquid Lipstick retails for $20.00 and the color I got was Lolita which is described as a Chestnut rose color. It is a long lasting liquid lipstick that contains vitamin E and sunflower oil so that the lipstick stays feeling nice on your lips.

Review/Thoughts

This is my first high end liquid lipstick so I can't compare it to other high end brands. However, I have tried a few drug store liquid lipsticks like the Rimmel London Provocolips and Wet n wild liquid lipstick. Compared to the mentioned drug store liquid lipsticks that I have tried, the Kat Von D Ever Lasting Liquid Lipstick formula is excellent! It definitely is long lasting and lasted on my lips almost the entire day. It is kiss proof and even when I ate there was still a lot of product left on my lips . For some people, the price might be expensive, but u get what you pay for. Since this is long lasting I never had to reapply during the day. When u think about it,  this will last you a long time. The Kat Von D Ever Lasting Liquid lipstick is very light weight on the lips which I love! Sometimes I would forget I have it on my lips that is how comfortable is feels. As for the lip color, the Kat Von D Ever Lasting Liquid Lipstick in Lolita is beautiful and compliments all skin tones.Would I purchase more? Yes yes and yes! There are a few colors that I have my eyes one , but they are sold out at the moment :( Kat Von D is coming out with a Lolita 2 liquid lipstick so be sure to check out Sephora.

You can purchase the Kat Von D Ever Lasting Liquid Lipstick at Sephora. It is currently sold out yet again, so sign up to the mailing list to get notified when it is back in stock. When it does go back in stock hurry and grab it because it sells out fast.

Hope you enjoyed my review and see you lovelies in my next blog post!

Kat Von D Innerstellar Eyeshadow Palette Photos, Review, and Swatches

Hey guys! Hope everyone is doing well and getting ready for spring! I am so excited and done with all the snow. Anywho, today I am reviewing the Kat Von D Innerstellar Eyeshadow Palette. This is a palette that I normally do not gravitate towards because the eyeshadows are cooler tone. For some reason when I saw this palette, I actually liked the colors, so I decided to purchase it. After doing a few looks I fell in love with the colors and the pigmentation of the eyeshadows.

The Kat Von D Innerstellar Palette retails for $46.00 and contains 12 matte and shimmer eyeshadows.

The packaging is made out of cardboard and has a magnetic closure . I think the design is ok.

The eyeshadows are a nice range of colors. You have your purple, grey and neutral shades.  These are shadows I normally won't use, but once I tried out some looks I loved how the  colors looked and  performed together. Because of this palette, I will branch out and start using more cooler tone shadows.

On the back of the packing you have the names of the eyeshadows. The names Kat Von D uses for her shadows are very unique.

Just look how pretty!  I love how she has  high lights and transition colors which makes this palette so easy to work with to create a complete look instead of going to another eyeshadow or palette just for a transition color. In this palette you have all the colors you need.

I love the first shade!

Starting from the top left:

Iycan:ale barbie pink shade.
Vast: light brown shade
Gravitron:Cream shade. Great for a highlighting the brow bone.
Killing Moon:taupey brown.
Moonshine:purple grey with pink shift.
3am: grape purple
Orion: Periwinkle purple. Such a beautiful color.
Dark star: midnight purple.
Astrological: light brown.
Lunacy: is a rose gold. Gorgeous color.
Dios: Silver.
Night crawler: Black

Standout colors: Moonshine, 3am, Lunacy, Orion

Pigmentation: Great pigmentation.
Longevity: Lasted for about 7 hours and still showed no sign of fading.
Blendability: Blends seamlessly into one another.
Fallout: None

Review/Thoughts:

Overall, I love the Kat Von D Innerstellar Eyeshadow Palette. The colors in the palette I usually do not gravitate towards, but I wanted to try more cooler tones eyeshadows and these colors are beautiful. I did a few looks with the palette and the pigmentation is great. The eyeshadows blend seemlessly together and lasted for about 7 hrs without signs of fading or creasing. You have many transition colors to work with which makes this palette great for day or night time makeup looks. If you are looking for cooler toned eyeshadows then the Kat Von D Innerstellar Eyeshadow Palette will be a nice addition to your makeup collection. This palette does not disappoint.

You can purchase the Kat Von D Innerstellar Eyeshadow Palette at Sephora.
